Smaller than a sparrow, very active
Pale grey-brown above, whitish below
Thin yellowish bill, pale yellow-brown legs
Soft rattling calls; clear jingling song

The Asian Desert Warbler is a small, plain-looking warbler with a quiet, understated presence. In open country it blends into the background rather than standing out.

It moves carefully and is easy to miss, but its voice is more noticeable — a soft chatter and a clear, jangling song with a quick, broken rhythm. It often sings in flight, so hearing it can be easier than seeing it.

It lives in desert scrub, semi-desert, and dry steppe, where low bushes provide nesting cover. It feeds mainly on insects and will also take small berries, and it moves to warmer regions for the winter.
