About the park

Pine woodland of natural origin covers most of Bobachyovskaya roscha. Its trees belong to two generations: the older pines are about 90 years old and 18–19 metres tall, while the younger are 30–40 years old and reach 15–16 metres. Khlebny Stream runs nearby. The woodland’s condition is shaped by its position within the city, the neighbouring residential districts and intensive recreational use.

The grove lies in eastern Tver and covers 20.5 hectares; it is a natural monument of regional significance. Until the 1960s it was called Bychkovskaya roscha, after the nearby village of Bychkovo. The name Bobachyovskaya roscha came into use during that decade, replacing a name rooted in the area’s village history.

Bobachyovskaya roscha is one of the main night roosts for corvids: crows, jackdaws, rooks and magpies gather there to roost. Among birds recorded nearby are the rock pigeon, Eurasian tree sparrow, common gull, house sparrow and hooded crow.
