About the park
The Sengiley Hills lie at the edge of the Volga Uplands, on the right bank of the middle Volga in Ulyanovsk Oblast. This is forest-steppe country, with birch, pine and oak among its local trees. The eastern edge runs along the Volga and the Kuybyshev Reservoir.

The national park was established in 2017. Its boundaries include a significant part of Sengiley District, extending protection across a large area of the district’s forest-steppe.
Among birds recorded nearby are the willow tit, Eurasian nuthatch and Eurasian blackbird.
River valleys and deep ravines divide the park’s terrain. Lower slopes expose Cretaceous rocks, while higher ground consists of sands, sandstones and other Paleogene deposits. Small rivers include the Tushenka and its tributary, the Attsa. Wooded uplands, slopes and river valleys form a mosaic of natural habitats.
