About the park
Terraced ponds, old plantings, and avenues give Uzkoye Estate a natural pattern distinct from the surrounding forest. Water lies at successive levels, and walking areas link the banks with the wooded park. For bird observation, this creates a shift from open pond surfaces to cover among branches over a short distance. The Pasternak Avenue is one of the landscape's recognisable features. The estate grounds belong to a working sanatorium, so arrangements for a separate visit should be checked with its administration. Woodland routes in neighbouring Bitsa Forest and the internal estate park have different boundaries and visitor arrangements.

The surviving appearance is associated mainly with the late-eighteenth-century estate and later work under the Trubetskoy family. During Alexei Golitsyn's ownership, the main buildings, including the manor house and greenhouses, were constructed in the 1780s. After the estate passed to the Trubetskoys in 1883, architect Sergei Rodionov remodelled the ensemble. In the twentieth century it became a sanatorium closely connected with scientists and cultural figures. During the 1920s and 1930s, residents invented the playful Republic of Sanuzia, complete with its own emblem and symbols. This intimate cultural history adds another dimension: a place for rest and work where the historic landscape remained part of daily life.
On an authorised walk, bird interest can centre on a pond where trees meet the bank. A short flight may be visible above water, while a bird in branches may first reveal itself by a voice. The successive ponds and the avenue provide changing viewpoints over a short distance. Following one bird's repeated movements between cover and open space can hold the attention within this small area.
