About the park

Granite outcrops rise among the rocks of Bazhov Places; some are known as “stone tents”. The park’s geology also includes sedimentary rocks, crystalline schists and clays. Rivers, lakes and reservoirs occur across the park, and some water bodies occupy abandoned quarries. The Talkov Kamen site includes a rock and a lake; Asbest-Kamen is a flooded asbestos quarry in the Mochalovskiye Razrezy. Khrustalny Pond is noted for its ship pines.

The earliest confirmed studies of the flora on the future park’s territory took place between 1889 and 1896. They were carried out by Petr Gelm, a member of UOLE, and the Moscow botanist Alexei Petunnikov. In 1896, Onisim Kler and his son collected a herbarium; 72 sheets from it relate to this territory. The local record of mineral extraction includes old iron-ore quarries, the Khrustalnye Kopi and the Chernovsky Canal. The park takes its name from Pavel Bazhov, who described these places in his works.

Birds recorded nearby include the great tit, great spotted woodpecker, willow tit, common chaffinch and fieldfare.
