About the park

Lianozovsky Landscape Reserve is made up of four separate sections stretching overall from north to south. The Savyolovskaya railway runs along its western boundary, while a branch line to Severny crosses the south-western section. Lianozovsky Stream flows through the woodland. Older growth is mainly oak and birch, with some pine; lime and maple were planted later.

These woods were once part of the Altufyevo estate. A 1786 description mentions a flour mill beside the stream and crucian carp in a dug pond: water was part of the estate’s economy. By the second half of the nineteenth century, a small coniferous and broadleaf woodland remained on the site of the present park, though some was cleared for dacha building. The Lianozovo settlement arose southwest of the estate on land cleared of forest. In 1932, a park was established in an oak grove west of the settlement, and it remains today.

The lesser spotted woodpecker, nightingale and bullfinch live in the park; all three are listed in the Moscow Red Book. Mallard, ruddy shelduck and great tit have been recorded nearby.
