About the park
Residential districts of Brateevo lie to the west of Brateevskaya poyma; to the east, the park reaches the channel of the Moscow River, occupying a strip of its floodplain. Broad open lawns and planted areas border the riverbank. Landscaping added 1,800 trees and 13,300 shrubs, with lawns covering 170,000 square metres. The landscaped zone is about 80 hectares, while some estimates put the full area at 190 hectares when the lower reaches of the Gorodnya are included. Piers and access points down to the river are provided for fishing.

Plans to protect this floodplain predate the park. In 2005, the city made provision for a faunal reserve here. A conflict between local residents and builders intensified in 2014, and part of the land was removed from the planned specially protected natural area. Landscaping began in 2017, and the park opened on 10 July 2018. A faunal reserve was established here on 6 February 2019 to conserve endangered animal species.
According to Moscow’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, 174 bird species have been recorded in the park, 42 of them red-listed. Birds recorded nearby include the Eurasian coot, hooded crow, mallard, rock pigeon and great tit.
