About the park
Lisinsky Nature Sanctuary lies southwest of Tosno. It protects forests closely associated with Russian forestry research: an experimental teaching forestry was established here in 1834, followed by an arboretum in 1850.

Spruce and pine forests dominate, with mixed stands containing elm and ash, wetlands and meadows. Forest birds include hazel grouse, black grouse, capercaillie, owls and birds of prey. Lake Kuznetsovskoye provides breeding habitat and migration stopovers for waterbirds.
