About the park
The Terletskaya Dubrava recreation area covers 10.9 hectares around a chain of five ponds on Chyorny Ruchey. The ponds average about two metres deep, and lie within the woodland of Terletsky Park, where broad-leaved trees including oaks and black alders predominate, with pines also present. A beach area and boat station occupy the waterside, while open sports grounds sit among the park facilities.

The ponds took shape over a long period, from the 18th century to the beginning of the 20th. Part of Terletsky Park is recognised as an 18th-century landscape-gardening monument. A fragment of the Vladimir Trakt, the old road linking Moscow with Vladimir, survives in the park; the section of avenue from Svobodny Prospekt, near the rescue station, once formed part of that route. Since 2014, the recreation area around the ponds has been managed by Perovsky Park. In 2017–2018, concrete paths were replaced with gravel and rubberised surfaces, and eight old gazebos and pergolas gave way to six new ones.
Ducks and diving ducks occur on the Terletsky Ponds in summer. Birds recorded nearby include the great tit, Eurasian blue tit, hooded crow, Eurasian nuthatch and mallard.
